This lesson contains: The changing nature of Christian demographic (it may be interesting to add in the British census report to this part) Mission and Evangelism recap Case study of Christ for all nations (show them the images on the website) Exit ticket Additional review activity worksheet on Christian practices This resource will not be completed in a single lesson, it is an easy topic and so I have added a supplementary activity in case you complete the lesson quicker than expected. Usually it is suggested you use the AQA Christianity book to supplement these lessons but for this lesson you can do without it. If the resource was a success please do leave me a nice REVIEW :)

Introducing Jesus in KS3

Introducing Jesus in KS3

5 Resources
This resource was designed with the new worldviews curriculum in mind. The bundle traces some key events in the life of Jesus. This is a KS3 resource, year 7s-9. If you wish to expand it further to consider Jesus as Messiah. You could also consider discussing the Parables, Holy week, Life after death etc if you want to spread it out for a term. Otherwise this resource set can be completed in a half term if done efficiently. I personally try to cover a lot in KS3 and move through topics quite swiftly but there is also benefits to stretching this material out, to use the HW sheets as in class materials and then offer shorter homework tasks from textbooks etc. All resources should be supplemented with effective questioning to reap the best results! ‘Tell me more about that?’ ‘Does anyone disagree?’ ‘Why might Jesus have done this?’ etc.

GCSE Buddhist Practices

This lesson covers the GCSE AQA Specification for Buddhism. Each lesson contains a starter, plenary, one or more activity, literacy and homework suggestions. I teach them at speed in 50 minutes but I suggest taking the full 55-60 minutes if possible. Some lessons have slightly more content than others and this can be spread out according to your teaching schedule. All the folders are labelled in order for download but for added clarity the suggested order for the lessons is as follows. Lesson 1 - Buddhist worship Lesson 2 - Samatha Meditation Lesson 3 - Vipassana Meditation Lesson 4 – Visualisation Lesson 5 – Death and Mourning Ceremonies Lesson 6 – Wesak and Parinirvana Day Lesson 7 – Kamma (Karma) Lesson 8 – Compassion (Karuna) Lesson 9 – Loving Kindness (Metta) Lesson 10 – The five moral precepts Lesson 11- (to complete the course you will want to look at the six perfections with students - my students do this by making a poster) GCSE AQA These lessons should be supplemented with photocopies of relevant sections of the AQA Buddhism textbook or students will have a book themselves. I hope you enjoy the resources – please review if you do and I will be uploading more RE resources in the future so watch this space!
